The second law of thermodynamics explains that things move from order to disorder.  Anyone who has ever had a child knows this is true.  Just clean your child’s room and leave for a few hours.  When you come back, it will have moved from order to disorder. 

That’s the way of our world.  Things go from clean to messy; from new to worn out; from shiny to dull.  And this progression doesn’t just happen with things.  It happens to people as well.  We go from excited to exhausted; from energized to passive; from motivated to complacent.  Why does this happen so quickly?  Because life is so hard.  We’re very easily distracted from the things that really matter by the things that are urgent. 

Take a look at this verse from 2 Corinthians 4:16
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”

What good news!  Though we are “wasting away” on the outside, God offers to REFUEL us on the inside.  It’s a refueling that allows us to live with peace, hope and joy in the middle of any situation.
