As tempting as it was to finally get something up on the site that uses AJAX (the new buzz-word in web technology), I couldn't bring myself to do it.  I just upgraded the Announcements module to a less-buggy version that had the option of loading the announcements using AJAX.  But since we never have more than 2-4 announcements up at a time, it doesn't exactly save a lot in terms of performance, and the fading effect was not as nice.

So, I live to enhance the website another day.... Thus endeth my technical ramblings for January...
