We received this letter
from the Iowa-Grant School District as a result of our serving focus in August: As principals of the Iowa-Grant Elementary/Middle School we would like to extend our appreciation for your recent donation of Lysol wipes. As the African proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Our students benefit in multiple ways from community members looking out for their well-being. When children’s basic needs are met and they are in a safe and caring environment, they are more likely to grow and thrive. Your recent donation will most certainly make a difference in the life of a child. Thank you once again for your generous gift and active support of our school!” Sincerely, Jodi Bast and Robyn Oberfoell.

Bennett Road Construction! Just a heads up for Sunday services this weekend. Bennett Road is closed at the roundabout to access Hidden Valley. You will need to go to Johns Street and then turn on North Street in order to access our parking lot.

Join us for our Compass Meeting this Sunday, September 22 at 4:00 p.m. We will cover several topics: Scott will talk about our vision, purpose and some of the reasons why we do what we do. Derek will give us a picture of what will be happening in Collision and the Children’s Ministry. We will also share an update on finances. Your input and ideas are always welcome as we continue planning the future of God’s church, so please plan to join us.

Thank you to everyone who donated blood at our Blood Drive on Tuesday! We had 21 total donations, which will help save the lives of 63 people! Thank you to the members of our CARE Team who made sweet treats, food and helped serve food and clean up afterwards.

Stay connected and “do life” by joining a Life Group! All it requires is a commitment to learn and grow with others. Please let us know of your availability and interest as we get these groups rolling in October. Contact Lori at

Each year approximately 240 babies are born at Upland Hills Health. Help us show love for these new families by bringing in a new newborn sleeper or onesie and putting it in the designated basket in the lobby. This is a great way to show many families God’s love! You may also write a check to HVCC with “MSF”in the memo line, and we will do the shopping for you.

This Fall, we are asking you to commit to making a difference in and around HVCC. We have begun what we are calling “5 Things 2 Tuesdays.” Would you commit to praying for 5 Things for 2 Minutes every Tuesday? You will receive a weekly email that will include the things we will be praying for. This email will include an attribute of God, a staff member, a program/volunteer group, an upcoming season, series, event, etc. and something outside our walls. These are not announcements but matters to pray about. To join us by making a difference through prayer, please email Lori at

Our Primitive Hunting Skills Day is next weekend! This will be a fun learning event for our community. On Saturday, September 28, we will be teaching primitive hunting skills and target skills for children. This is a hands-on experience for the whole family. Some areas may not be suitable for children under the age of 7. We still need men who can help us run this event safely. Please email Lori at if you are interested in helping out! And don’t forget to mark your calendars so you can join us.

Life in the Valley Class - Learn about HVCC, how it is structured, its strategy and what it means to be a member. This class covers salvation and discusses the beliefs, values and vision of HVCC. The opportunity to become a member is offered at the end of the class, but is not required. This class will be held on Sunday, October 27 from noon to 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be served. To sign up to attend, please email Lori at

Can I tell you a secret? We all love secrets. Join us on Sunday as we continue to learn about prayer. There are no secrets when it comes to prayer, but there is something that we might miss if we are not careful. We look forward to seeing you Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Children’s programming is available for birth through Grade 5 during both services.
